inside of

Coming here was part of the cure
walking into this place of silence
into the aloneness of the unknown
                                 into the darkness of creation

I unfold
       Unravel, unwind
I search the valleys of my mind,

of myself
wandering, I wonder

Where am I?

Somewhere behind the mask
I could feel

I had eyes beneath the surface
eyes planted so deep inside of me
          unlike belief, intuitively bequeathed

The memories teased my release
until the streams of me became oceans

The heat of my questions melted glaciers
until the landmass of walking matter which was once me,

the iciness

became something different

             something shifted
something changed
something closed
something opened

Asking, I asked, I’m asking

I passed, I drifted into suspension
until the material world became the bottom

the abysmal abyss of dismemberment

Looking up
           I could see

Complex equations made simple

Turning as if on a wheel
dying as if it were living

The utterance of oneness

Let these numbers lead the way
Let these choices extend the day
Let this pressure be calming…

as I maintain peace

Dark Matter

Image

It is in the way     that you hear my voice
It is in the way     that you feel my heartbeat
It is the sound of me,
reflecting you
that sustains us

I am dressed in the light of your darkness …It is the knowledge of things flowing

The adding and subtracting
The zig-zag motion
It is the silence
The way that you go into my mind and find remnants of past lives
This is our now, is our future
is our life
is our children

is our everything

The way that you see me

The way that you vibrate inside of me
The waves in our frequency

The water, so pure, so charged

Reimagining love into something more

Something beyond this language

The way of you and I

Is unknown to the eye
You must travel into and beyond

to be Us…

the way of his words
the way of his touch
never to pass judgment
never to silence me

only to see clearly…

2020 Vision: Read… study … know … enter … Before Christ…

Image

Flashy car, fancy house and clothes… a pocket full of cash… a crowd around you to validate your worth… but what really is your worth when you know nothing of the history of your people and you don’t recognize the voices of your ancestors? You only know the voices of the ones paying you and training you to stay subservient and numb.

Who are you?

6000 years Before Christ (B.C.), where were your people and what were they doing? It’s been written. It’s been told by Us Afrikans in many wonderful texts. Your ancestors loved you so much, they wrote the history on the pyramid walls and tablets so that you wouldn’t forget. Kmt. Kemet. Nubia. Ta Seti. Sudan, then Ethiopia. You’d better read. 2020 Vision. Go back and fetch your history because the past is the future is the now. Everything is everything.

Peace and love,

KWANZAA AFTER DARK: DAY 4

Image

Reflecting on the days of Kwanzaa…

Kwanzaa After Dark is about reflection.  After you’ve spent the day doing the Afrikan rituals within your community, go home and think about how you, as an individual can change.

We all come from the cradle of civilization.  We all can support Kwanzaa.  Why don’t we?  Think about that.

Thank you for visiting.

Shila Iris,

KWANZAA AFTER DARK: DAY 3

Image

Habari gani?  This is the question you ask your family, friends, and community at the beginning of each day of Kwanzaa.  In the language kiswahili, it translates to “What’s the news?”

Your response is simply whatever day of Kwanzaa it is.  So this morning, you responded: “Ujima!”  Tomorrow you respond “Ujamaa!”

DAY 3 – UJIMA:  COLLECTIVE WORK AND RESPONSIBILITY

*Note:  If the images above appear blurry, please visit my previous post for a clearer view.

Peace and blessings manifest with every lesson learned,

Shila Iris

P.S. Divide and conquer has been a very useful tactic in taking from people of Afrikan descent.  We can fight this!  Let the circle be unbroken.  Fix yourself, so that we can all be together.  I’m in my healing flow, you know?

KWANZAA AFTER DARK: DAYS 1 & 2

I love to say kujichagulia (koo-jee-chah-goo-lee-yuh). ♥ ♥  It rolls off my tongue very nicely.  So, here I am, Shila Iris, hey ya’ll!!!!  You know I rocks with Kwanzaa on this blog.  Check it out.

DAY 1 – UMOJA: UNITY

DAY 2 – KUJICHAGULIA:  SELF-DETERMINATION

I am Shila Iris.  I should name myself! 🙂

UP LATE: A king…

Image

This is a depressingly masculine world.  Yet, I love men.

Enter me.  Only when you’re ready.

Peace and love,

Shila Iris

P.S. The name of the song is Weary … and maybe you’ll have to get high to comprehend it. Why?  Because anyone can “under” stand it.  Yet, can you feel it?  Can you let go of trying to correct her, and just accept her?  Can you walk in her shoes?  Can you NOT talk, and just hear her?  Can you stop trying to save her, and just hold her hand and let her divine nature find the way?   Do you recognize that you developed in a system that taught you to look down on her?  And, even when you can’t see it, sometimes you put yourself above her?  This hierarchy has been detrimental to the synthesis of the divine female and masculine flow of life. You are not her savior.  You are her creation.

Behold. I give birth.

I’m up late but yawning.  Goodnight.

Healing Flow

Image

Could she be speaking of someone she loves or is she speaking to herself?  You decide.

Remember, you can only experience the healing flow when you truly desire to tell the truth about yourself.  Who are you?  Focus on the reflection you see when you look into the mirror.  Your eyes tell everything.  Breathe. Set yourself free.

Peace and blessings manifest with every lesson learned,

Shila Iris ♥

UP LATE: All you gotta do is call me

AL GreenSimply Beautiful

I remember my mother’s love for the music of AL Green.  In fact, she had so much love for this man, she kept a crumbled rose that he had given to her at the Ohio State Fair during the 70s.  I was born in 1984.  She still had that rose wrapped in a plastic bag until the mid-90s!  She had shown up alone, hours early for his concert so that she could get a seat in the front row.  Sitting there, waiting, she didn’t realize that during his soundcheck, he had seen her from behind the curtain.  During the show, he came down off the stage and announced to the crowd that he wanted my mother to have that rose, his leather jacket and scarf for showing such commitment.  I’m sure her ♥ heart ♥ fluttered big time!  What an exciting moment.  I always loved hearing this story.  I too, enjoy AL Green.  I am pleased to share him.

P.S. A rose for Rosemary!  That’s her name.  And as you can imagine, he surely did say, “here’s a rose for Rosemary.”

I’m up late, listening to these soft words.

Thank you for coming here,

Shila Iris

The fear of losing me…

Image

You can pretend I’m a bad girl
You can pretend I’m a good girl
But whatever I got, you know you want it
Whatever you need, you know I got you

You can pretend that I broke your heart
But you know, it was never right from the start

You know you were betraying another to have me, but
you’d betray yourself not to pursue me, so
you did
and the timing was…
and the rest is history…

Your story…

Tell it how you please
It really doesn’t bother me
Paint pictures and tell the world that Shila wasn’t everything,
it’s funny to me
you prolonged this experience until I couldn’t,
but I wasn’t?

It’s eating you up not to know why I left, so
you provide a fake truth
to cover up the way you really feel

You know I’m down for the cause
and NOT just because I’m broken-hearted,
running from the past, and lonely

I really loved you
and I’m really strong
and I really held you down when you had nothing

and you know it

But do as you please
in your dreams, you remember me…
Say my name,
or don’t

I’m still here, and

I’m from the Jungle,
I know the deal

and you and I
know the real

Whatever you like, though
Proceed

Did you forget?
You’re from the Jungle too

Let that fear go, the e go
and let’s eat

at ease.

P.S. Do you ever feel like the English language doesn’t have the words to express what you are feeling?  Like, it’s not your native tongue?  But it’s your first language, the one you’ve been taught, but somehow, it isn’t fulfilling?  Get at me.

Fruit

Image

Sucking the seed of a mango I learned to kiss
Tasting the sweet water in melons I learned to tap into the flavor of life,
succulent nectar dripping from each experience

I taste…

not caught up in his superficial
not caught up in his sex
not caught up in domination
or imposing
we are inside of each other

he is,
allowing the energy of me to permeate
as he penetrates me with words and truth

I concentrate on his vernacular and
the way he moves,
his harmonious high steps

Heaven

He balances me with oneness
telling stories of how he became
He is as grateful as I

He says,
“Be with me. Come close, stay close.”

There is nothing between us
that we cannot speak

He,
I breathe

“You have given me something
that I have wanted forever,” he says,

“even before I reincarnated”

We are attracting the things we need to ascend

I have felt peace,
and now I know of it

going, moving forward, and backwards,
and sideways

I will find a way to see you…

always.
In each life.
